Lo de Marcos Mexico, just north of Puerta Vallarata is a place where you can enjoy the essence of a true Mexican town. Wide, calm streets, colorful flowering trees, bright art work painted throughout town, fishermen heading out early morning with their boats and nets to catch the local fish of the day. Surrounded by green hills and whimsical rocks contrasting beautifully with the intense blue sky and warm Pacific waters. Playa Lo de Marcos has just been rated one of Nayarit’s cleanest beaches with the most swimmable water.

This beach scene is full of various activities such as swimming, children playing, horseback riding, turtle releases, fishing and whale watching trips, fishing off the shore or even just relaxing. For the surfers there are often waves to surf down on the north shore. Sinking your feet into the sea and sand brings the ambiance and state of mind to complete tranquility. 5 beach front restaurants to hangout, eat great food, or sip on fresh coconut water or margaritas.

The town boasts a lively downtown with many small shops and exceptional restaurants that serve up delicious homemade Mexican food with friendly service. Quaint shops with local artesian products and treats, peaceful streets with friendly people, live music, trivia at local pubs and community events being a big part of the towns activities.

Year-round population is 2,500 - 3,500 with the high season being November - April. Temperature typically varies from 63°F to 89°F and is rarely below 58°F or above 91°F. Public transportation available. If you are on the lookout you may even see some humback whales traveling through the waters of Lo de Marcos during the winter months.
